This week, we will be featuring guest posts reviewing recent works of popular science, courtesy of Catherine Mas and Katherrine Healey, both graduate students in Yale's Program in the History of Science and Medicine. (We'll post a third review, by Sara Smith, a little later.)
Catherine will review The Triple Package, by Amy Chua and Jed Rubenfeld.
Katherrine will review Bonk, by Mary Roach.
Sara will review The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot
All three originally wrote their reviews for a course taught by former American Science blogger Henry Cowles. Henry's course asked (to quote the course description), "How have science and medicine been brought to bear on human nature in various times and places? How have scholars grappled with these efforts, especially in the last decade? And how might we build on their scholarship in our own work?"
We're excited to hear from Catherine, Katherrine, and Sara what kind of answers these books might provide, both for professional historians and for a broad audience.
